Meet the pitmaster
Chasin Tailz BBQ is locally owned and operated by Bernie Thomas out of Ravenna, Ohio. He's a pit guy, a truck guy, and a longtime friend who believes nobody should leave his line wondering whether they got enough.
The story
Bernie started the way every real pitmaster starts — cooking for friends and family until the crowd outgrew the backyard. The compliments turned into requests, the requests turned into events, and Chasin Tailz BBQ was born.
Today, Chasin Tailz runs a food truck, a BBQ trailer and smoker rig, and full-service event catering across Northeast Ohio. Weddings, corporate picnics, festivals, private parties, brewery pop-ups — if there's a crowd that needs to eat, Bernie shows up personally and makes it happen.
As seen on FOX 8 New Day Cleveland — and a two-time Brew and BBQ Bash winner going for three.
What you get working with Bernie
There's no sales team, no call center, and no event coordinator you've never met showing up on your event day. When you call Chasin Tailz, you talk to Bernie. When your event happens, Bernie is the one behind the smoker.
That's the whole model: real food, straight answers, and personal service from the guy whose name is on the truck. He handles the quote, confirms the menu, shows up on time, feeds the crowd, and cleans up. Your job is to enjoy the event you planned.
He does this because he genuinely likes feeding people. That generous spirit is the whole brand — and it's the reason customers keep calling back.
What people say
Chasin Tailz BBQ has built its reputation on word of mouth, repeat bookings, and crowds that come back hungry. The reviews are real, the portions are generous, and the smoke ring doesn't lie.
Send your date, guest count, and event type — Bernie will get back to you with a straight quote.
